Staying with a local family is obviously the best way to experience Costa Rican culture and practice Spanish outside of the classroom. We have carefully selected families who are experienced in hosting students, understand how to meet the needs of a foreigner staying in their house, and are examples of the warmth and hospitality typical in Guanacaste.
The family provides breakfast and dinner, a private room, and laundry service. Each home is located within walking distance of the school. Our goal is to find the best family for each student, so we ask students to let us know their preferences (special diet needs, smoking or nonsmoking family, a family with or without children, etc.).
Homestays include 7 days – Sunday to Sunday – and cost $175 per week. Additional nights cost $27.
Spanish students in a homestay also receive airport pickup from Liberia International Airport.
