Exciting times in Liberia, Costa Rica!

Here in Liberia, they have a lot of activities always going on in the central park or around the city, so it is a really exciting week to be studying Spanish at Instituto Estelar Bilingüe. This week they are having their Fiestas Civicas and there are tons of people walking around town, buying and selling goods. Cowboys parade around town riding the horses in parades called “topes,” and then everyone goes to the parties at night. Luckily, I live right where the parties are going on.

A birthday celebration with other travelers in Costa Rica!

Last night was my birthday, so I went to the parties with a couple of other travelers to see the festivities. There were a lot of people there, they had three stages all playing different music. It seems that Pilsen is the Bud light of Costa Rica because they had advertisements for it all over the place. After the parties we walked to the central park where there was a live band playing and people dancing in the courtyard. There were more people here than at the parties near the hostel, I was amazed to see so many people dancing, and the music was so good!
