Yesterday, I visited the LLanos De Cortez waterfall, which is located just 15 minutes outside of downtown Liberia. I went with two students from the institute that are here from Canada studying English. Estelar was kind enough to arrange our transportation, and even provided us with a bilingual driver! Transportation to and from the waterfall, along with admission, cost us just 15USD$.The area was gorgeous. Unlike the city of Liberia itself, the area was secluded and lush with trees and flowers.
Our first experience upon entering the “park” was to enter the pool at the base of the waterfall. The water was surprisingly warm. After a nice swim to cool down from the summer heat, we followed a “park-provided-guide” that led us up a path to where we were able to do a small jump into a pond below. It wasn’t that high, and I was definitely in the mood to try something new. I went for it! One of the other students with me did, as well. It was a really cool experience. While we were jumping, the other student was learning about the wildlife all around us from the park guide. We saw a family of monkeys high above us in the trees. It was certainly a day I won’t forget anytime soon!
